Under a recent strategic partnership, Globe7 HK Limited and SINA.com.hk will provide co-branded voice-over-Internet services and video streaming information and advertising.

A SINA-branded hosting solution from Globe7 will allow SINA.com.hk users to place long-distance voice and video calls over the Globe7 network to more than 100 countries utilizing a Chinese-language soft-dialer. According to a press release, a variety of Chinese-language content, including videos, entertainment news, global messaging, blogs and user-generated content can also be posted on the co-branded service.

Venkat S. Meenavilli, chairman and managing director of Globe7s’ parent company, Northgate Technologies Limited said that further partnerships between Globe7 and SINA.com.hk will be announced in the near future.

Globe7 HK Limited also announced that Clayton Haswell, former managing director of the Associated Press for Asia and the Pacific, has been appointed president and CEO of Globe7 HK Limited.

Haswell will be responsible for Globe7’s operations in Asia, the U.S. and Europe. He will also manage the launch of several of Globe7’s Internet 2.0 websites, as well as develop online advertising strategies with Axill.

Haswell served as chief editor of several newspapers and websites, and spent 16 years managing U.S. and international bureaus for the AP, a global news agency. Prior to this assignment in Asia, he was responsible for all newspaper and digital business operations in 33 countries and established the AP’s first Asia-based business operation.

SINA.com.hk is one of the biggest portals in Hong Kong and a subsidiary of SINA Corporation, providing online media and value-added services for the local community.
